Search term report · negatives · bids · every Monday

You download the search term report every week.
You open it maybe once a month.

Which is why the same irrelevant query has been drawing spend since before the last restock. The work is not hard, it is just long: sort by spend, find the terms with clicks and no orders, check whether the ones with orders still clear your margin after fees, write down what to change. Nothing in that list needs your judgement until the last step, and the first three are exactly what a scheduled job is for.

The Monday pass

What the report says once somebody reads it

01

Which terms spend and never convert

Clicks with no orders across a long enough window is the cheapest cut available, and the output is a negative list you can paste in. Terms with too few clicks to judge come back in a separate group instead of being swept in with the rest, because negating on three clicks is how you kill a term that was two weeks from working.

02

Which converting terms still lose money

A term with orders is not automatically a term you want, because at your margin some of them cost more than they bring once the referral fee and the fulfilment fee come out. The report has no idea what your margin is unless you tell it, so give it your cost and fee assumptions once and they appear in every pass afterwards, printed in the output where you can argue with them.

03

Which ASIN is quietly funding the others

Campaign-level numbers hide product-level problems, and an account average that looks acceptable often has one product carrying it. Rolling the report up by ASIN and putting it next to the business report is where that shows, and it is usually the finding worth acting on rather than the twelve negatives.

Authority

What it is not allowed to do with your ad account

Automated bid management is a real category and this deliberately is not it, because the failure modes are different.

It does not create campaigns or set budgets

Publishing ads, creating ad groups and setting budgets are outside what these skills do at all. The output is a list of changes for you to make, which keeps the worst case at a wasted five minutes rather than at a spend event nobody authorised.

Irreversible steps ask before they run

Across the client, actions that cannot be undone are gated separately from ordinary ones rather than riding along on a general permission you granted once weeks ago. In an account with a card attached, that distinction is the whole safety story.

No ROAS promise

Nothing here commits to advertising return, ranking or sales outcomes. What you get is arithmetic over your own numbers with the assumptions visible, which is what lets you disagree with a recommendation on a specific ground rather than on a hunch.

Same pass, on a timer

Because the pass is a skill rather than a conversation, it runs on a schedule and leaves the same report shape every Monday. Comparing this week to last week only works when both were produced the same way, which is the quiet reason a scheduled job beats asking again from scratch.

FAQ

Before you hand over the ad report

Does it connect to the Advertising API?

The current Seller Central connector uses SP-API for seller operations, not the Amazon Ads API. Export your advertising search term report as CSV for this workflow. Connecting Seller Central does not replace that export.

How is this different from a PPC management tool?

A management tool holds bid authority and acts on rules you configured. This holds no authority at all; it reads, explains and hands you a list. If you want automation that acts, buy that. If you want to understand what the report says before deciding, this is a different job and the two coexist fine.

Can it look at more than advertising?

That is usually where it earns its keep. Put the advertising report next to the business report, the returns data and the review export, and a high ACoS turns into a specific explanation, such as the term converting fine while the product comes back at twice the category rate. One folder, several files, one pass.

Does it work for Shopify or eBay ads too?

The reading is format-agnostic, so any report you can export works, and there are connectors for Shopify Admin, eBay, Google Ads and Klaviyo among others. What is Amazon-specific is only the vocabulary in the output, and that follows whichever report you hand it.

Last week's report is still sitting there unopened

Free, macOS and Windows. It reads the report; it never touches the account.
